The Parcoursup platform is accessible to students wishing to continue their studies in 2025. Several steps are essential.

The Parcoursup online platform has been open since December 18 for training requests for the year 2025. 24,000 higher education courses are offered, for nearly 900,000 young people who wish to continue their studies. The Parcoursup schedule is clear, with well-marked stages.

  • Wednesday December 18, 2024 : opening of the site. High school students can log in and test the different features of the site, before the registration phase.
  • From Wednesday January 15 to Thursday March 13, 2025 : this is the registration phase on Parcoursup, with opening of the file and formulation of wishes. You must complete the different sections of the file (CV, cover letters, activities and interests). Your main mission: express your wishes. You can make 10 wishes and 20 sub-wishes maximum. This two-month period still gives you time to explore the training courses and refine your choices. As part of the Parcoursup procedure, it is not necessary to prioritize your wishes, but you must justify them one by one by writing a cover letter for each.
  • From March 14 to April 2, 2025 : confirmation of wishes and finalization of the file. These few days of “bonus” aim to definitively validate your wishes, but also to verify your applications and finalize them, via the provision of all the supporting documents requested, as well as a final touch to your letters of invitation. motivation !

Parcoursup 2025 dates for the admission phases

  • From June 2 to 4 July 2025 : main admission phasewith response from establishments to Parcoursup candidates. You will then begin to know if the training courses you are targeting have accepted your application, rejected it or put you on a waiting list. In order to reduce stress for candidates, the main procedure (admission phase) ends in mid-July instead of at the beginning of September previously.
  • Until September 11, 2025 : additional admission phase, with entry of new wishes and admission proposals. This phase is dedicated to those who have only received negative or unsatisfactory responses, or who have missed the mark of their registration. During this “second chance session”, candidates can apply to courses that still have places, with the same rules of the game as during the previous procedure, but in an accelerated version.
  • From July 4, 2025 : possibility for Parcoursup candidates to request personalized support from their academy’s access to higher education commission (CAES) from their file.

It is possible to make up to 10 wishes in total, but also sub-wishes depending on the training. Candidates seeking training in learning have 10 additional wishes for these same apprenticeship training courses. Around 7,500 apprentice training courses are available and for many of them, you can express your wishes throughout the Parcoursup procedure, without a deadline. For high school students, each wish expressed is the subject of a Future sheet, which will include the assessments of their teachers and the opinion of the head of the establishment following the 2nd class council. They are sent to the targeted universities.

Another advantage of the site: if a candidate is looking for specific training, the search engine also offers similar training that could potentially interest them. In their list of maximum 10 wishes, without order of preference and without obligation to add a non-selective sector, Parcoursup candidates must explain their motivation for each of the registered wishes. They have to do this from mid-January to mid-March.

High school students have the possibility of applying outside the academy: “a few places [sont] reserved in the non-selective sectors of a university for candidates coming from another academy”, specifies the AFP. If the student chooses to limit his applications to selective sectors or to faculties located outside his academy, he risks remaining without an offer and receives a series of messages from the Parcoursup platform to inform him of this.

Finally, the candidate has an additional possibility in his bag: that of formulating “multiple wishes” (within their 1 to 10 wishes), which are limited to 20 sub-wishes maximum. Ex: a computer science license required for all the universities of the academy, and which only counts for one wish, with more chances for the student to obtain the training in the sector of their choice .

Good to know: for IFSIs, hearing aid, speech therapy and orthoptics institutes, the limit is five wishes per type of training.

For those who have not yet completely made their choice, the training sheets provide valuable information for each training course:

  • the content of the training
  • tuition fees
  • dates of open days
  • the percentage of candidates admitted according to the type of baccalaureate
  • the access rate
  • The number of places available this year and the number of wishes made
  • the rate of sending admission proposals
  • professional integration rates for the majority of BTS and additional mentions
  • The rate of passage into the 2nd year and the success rate

The training sheets are also enriched with a new section, “Know the criteria for analyzing applications“. This clearly presents the criteria that the training courses will use to analyze and accept applications. It is also specified in the sheets who will analyze the files: teachers, admissions managers, etc. Thanks to all these elements, the candidate has the possibility to compare the most important criteria between two training courses and gauge their chances of success, but also to have more in mind the priority arguments to integrate in their Parcoursup cover letter. We also find in the advice sheets. from the training themselves relating to the recommended courses in high school and how to complete your application file What better way to anticipate the admission phase, which starts on Thursday June 1st.

Each Parcoursup wish must be supported by writing a “motivated training project”, a sort of cover letter. The objective: to explain in a few lines what motivates the candidate in this training. “It is a personal expression that is expected of you and not a theoretical essay,” explains Parcoursup. It is thus a question of motivating your wishes in a personalized way, and thus of standing out from others by highlighting your strengths. Concretely, in 1,500 characters maximum, the candidate explains why he chooses to include this training in his wish list, what his qualities and skills are, and how the training fits well with his past career – professional experiences and personal – and with his future projects.

Good to know: if a high school student or a reorientation student has a disability or suffers from a disabling health condition, he or she can provide a connection form in their Parcoursup file. It is possible to specify your needs for the start of the school year. Non-obligatory, this form is not sent to the training for examination of the file.

Pourtonsup is a platform launched by the high school students’ association to help disoriented candidates navigate Parcoursup. She offers to give her opinion on Parcoursup, find her direction and finally, exchange with students.

My Master is the national online platform to find your master’s degree. Once their license is in hand, many students find themselves left behind in France. A sort of one-stop shop, “My Master” functions as a referral interface to streamline proposals, redistribute vacant places and register students earlier.

The site allows three key functionalities to access a master’s degree after your license:

  • consult all the national master’s degrees offered by accredited higher education establishments
  • submit applications for access to the first year of a master’s degree
  • be accompanied by the rectoral services in the event that you have received no positive response to your applications

From mid-June, admission offers arrive from successful applicants. They can then accept or not the proposals, but this is only possible for two masters at a time. From mid-July, a phase of redistribution of vacant places begins based on withdrawals.

In case of “definitive yes”, each candidate can only keep one “yes”. If you don’t get your preferred choice the first time, you can still keep wishes pending. So there is no need to rush to respond. When you are sure of your choice, you can confirm your wish. You then do not need to unsubscribe from Parcoursup, just complete your administrative registration before the end of July in order to be permanently accepted into your new training.

It is indeed a yes, the student who made this choice is accepted into the chosen training. But the student then agrees to follow a refresher course or courses adapted to his profile, from the start of the school year.

What is the Parcoursup waiting list ?

If they are accepted while waiting for a place, students can follow their progress in the waiting list on a day-to-day basis and assess the probability of being admitted to a course. You can only accept one admission offer at a time. It is possible to accept an admission offer (in order not to end up with nothing) and to maintain the “pending” wish(ies) that interest you at the same time.

If you do not yet have any admission offer, your wishes are automatically maintained. You can give up on a wish whenever you want if it no longer interests you. If one of your wishes on the waiting list becomes a positive response, you will be informed by email in real time, as well as via the Parcoursup application. If you validate this same wish, you must then think about validating the maintenance of your other pending wishes yourself. Otherwise, they will be lost.

What to do if the answer is “No”?

If the answer is “No”, you do not need to do anything. This means that the proposal no longer concerns you.

If you do not receive any admission offer, you can register for the complementary procedure, which starts on June 11 and lasts until September 12. You will then have the opportunity to make new wishes in the training courses with remaining places.

How to make new choices on the Parcoursup post-baccalaureate guidance platform ? Via the “Evaluate your chances in a sector” toolthe result of our exclusive partnership with a team of teachers eager to help students, you can visualize your chances of joining training based on your profile! In the interface below, created by Supeasy, you indicate your baccalaureate and your level, then check the sectors you are targeting.

It is possible to indicate several cumulative sectors. This allows you to compare your chances of admission in a few clicks, and even to adjust them by varying the average obtained in the baccalaureate.
