Göran Sundbom took over his parents’ summer cottage on Hamnholmen 15 years ago and has lived there full-time ever since. Over the years, he and his neighbors have followed the plans for the construction of the Norrbothnia railway, where what was called the eastern alternative would have meant that the railway would have just passed his property and continued over the city bay via a bridge to Svartöstaden.
Great relief at the decision
That the Swedish Transport Administration has now given a definitive statement that it is the western alternative via Storheden that applies. Something that Göran and his neighbors are relieved about.
– There are quite a few people who live here, so it’s nice to avoid the clatter of a railway. I think that the Swedish Transport Administration’s argument is good and that the Western section along the E4 is the best and most well-thought-out alternative.
