In a 10-minute trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds, Capcom explains the lore of the series. This is narrated by an actress who is known as the Jedi from Star Wars.
Who is this actress? Developer Capcom brought actress Daisy Ridley on board for the trailer. She also portrayed Rey Skywalker in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Now she lends her voice as a narrator.
The trailer is around 10 minutes long and answers many questions that newcomers might ask. Including:

Hunters and monsters in harmony with nature
What is the lore of Monster Hunter? Monsters are just as much a part of nature as humans and all other peoples and animals that you come across. Accordingly, it is not the goal of the hunters to eradicate all monsters.
Monsters are an indispensable part of nature’s bounty and essential to human prosperity. And hunters work to return the favor.
The trailer even implies that hunters and monsters may have a “shared reverence” for each other – “much like two warriors looking into each other’s eyes across a battlefield.”
Hunters strive to keep nature in balance. They primarily hunt monsters that are prevalent in a certain area. Seen this way, the monsters aren’t as evil as they often seem and the hunters aren’t pure adrenaline junkies – right?
Lore is all well and good, but the main thing is to look chic
Even as a fan, you have to admit that the main motivation in the game is less focused on harmony: players hunt the same monster many times and make fancy armor and weapons out of its parts. In doing so, they hunt even bigger monsters and the cycle begins again.
Many comments under the trailer on YouTube also note this. It says something like this:
Nobody expected that Daisy Ridley, an actress known from Star Wars, would one day tell the lore of Monster Hunter. leekyonion writes: “Daisy Ridley presenting a Monster Hunter video was not on my bingo card for 2024.”
Of course, at the end we have to address the fact that Ridley played the role of Rey Skywalker in Star Wars. And what was the name of the flying wyvern from the open beta that the trailer ends with? That’s right, Rey Dau! Some things you just can’t imagine.
By the way, the excerpts shown in the trailer come primarily from older parts of the series. Many of the monsters depicted did not appear in the most recent main part – Monster Hunter: World. According to a data miner, a popular monster could appear again in Monster Hunter Wilds.
