The new Mysterious Island booster is now available in Pokémon TCG Pocket. But which cards in the set are particularly strong?
This is what’s in the new booster: The “Mysterious Island” brings 80 new cards. The cover features a large Mew as the new star of the set – and of course, this special Pokémon is one of the best things you can get from the set.
But which cards are still worth it? Which ones should you perhaps include in your deck?
In this list, we’ll take a look at some of the best cards in the new Pokémon TCG Pocket set. The main reason for this was not the rarity, but rather the usefulness in fights against other trainers or the computer.
But of course: Some of the rarest cards are also some of the best you can play. Just see for yourself.
Celebi ex
Celebi ex is already becoming the star of the new set, even though Mew can actually be seen on the booster. But Celebi comes with an extremely powerful attack: For every energy you put on Celebi, you throw a coin. If heads, the Powerful Bloom attack deals 50 points of damage. In extreme cases, this can cause several hundred damages in one fell swoop.
And Celebi ex is particularly good in conjunction with…
Serpiroyal
Serpiroyal comes with the “Jungle Domination” ability. This means that any Grass Energy attached to Grass-Pokémon counts twice. This way you can increase the amount of energy in Celebi (or other Pokémon) very quickly. And in the case of Celebi, depending on the coin flip, that translates directly into extra damage.
Mew ex
The cover star Boosters brings the attack “genome hacking”. For three colorless energy you can use it to copy the attack of your opponent’s active Pokémon. This will be a damn good counterattack, especially against powerful opponents like Mewtwo ex or Charizard ex. In theory, you can play Mew ex in any deck since Genome Hacking uses colorless energy.
Aquana
Aquana’s new card has the “Wash Away” ability. You can use it to move water energies back and forth between your water Pokémon. An extremely useful ability in Water decks that rely on Misty, for example. Cards like Gyarados, Lapras ex or similar can quickly gain energy that you previously used for your weaker monsters.
Tauboss ex
Pidboss ex becomes stronger the more Pokémon your opponent has on the bench. His ability causes his attack to cause 20 extra points of damage to each of your opponent’s Benched Pokémon. In the best case scenario, Tauboss ex can do 140 damage with “Angry Cyclone”. It also has 170 CP, so it can withstand a lot.
Leaf
The new trainer card will be important if you want to make a lot of Pokémon changes. It reduces a monster’s retreat cost for one round by 2 points. The withdrawal costs are very high, especially with stronger cards. So you can save a lot of energy if you use Leaf. And: This can even be combined with X-Initiative if you want to save even more energy.
Shardrago
Shardrago is not to be underestimated, as the dragon Pokemon not only brings a lot of HP, but also deals 20 damage every time the opponent attacks it in the active position. This could prove to be a pretty good block early in the game when opponents with weaker Pokemon can’t afford to attack Shardrago.
Marshadow
The basic Pokémon Marshadow has the attack “Retribution”, which costs just 2 energy. This deducts 40 points normally, but you get 60 damage points on top if one of your Pokémon was knocked out in the last turn. This way you can counter pretty quickly and powerfully.
PokéFlute
This interesting card brings one of your opponent’s Basic Pokémon back to the Bench. This sounds counterproductive at first, but it could be useful in disrupting your opponent’s strategies. For example, you can block a bench spot with revived, weak Basic Pokémon.
Blue
Blue is like the anti-Giovanni in the new set. It ensures that you receive – 10 damage in battle in the next round. Depending on how the fight goes, this can be quite crucial.
It remains to be seen how the coming days will develop and which cards will particularly stand out in strong combinations. That’s why we’ll continue to update this article as more strong cards become known. So keep checking back! And until then, here is the list of the best decks in Pokémon TCG Pocket.
