Good news is coming for all civil servants. Some may have forgotten it.
This is very good news for six million French people. While during the month of December, finances are put to the test, all civil servants will be able to breathe sooner than expected since the salary will be paid much earlier than usual. Enough to avoid being in the red (for too long?), between the numerous Christmas purchases and the last tax deadlines of the year.
If, each month, pay always arrives in bank accounts around the same date, the month of December is exceptional for teachers, nurses, administration employees or other magistrates. And not all of them may have been informed or have forgotten the information. While the last salary was paid on November 27, the wait will be shorter for this month.
Indeed, as provided for in the pay calendar, the month of December deviates from the traditional calendar rule applied throughout the rest of the year. Thus, it is from Friday December 20 that civil servants will be able to receive their remuneration. This is the day when the transfers will be ordered by the administrations. There may be a delay before it appears on the bank account, 1 to 2 days maximum.
This advance payment exception only concerns civil servants, whether permanent or contract. In the private sector, no similar rule applies, except that the salary must be paid on a fixed date, every month, within one or two days depending on the calendar. There is no general provision for it to arrive earlier in December.
On the other hand, behind this good news lies less encouraging news for civil servants. Who says payment in advance in December means payment later in January. In the first month of the year, you will have to find elasticity in your finances. Because between the two salaries, no less than 40 days will pass. In fact, the first payment of the year is already scheduled for Wednesday January 29. So be sure to control your wallet well.
