Deadpool & Wolverine was a huge success for Disney. The film is full of jokes and references, not just to the MCU. The entire Marvel film history is celebrated in the superhero film. But you might have missed a brilliant joke if you didn’t see the film in German.

Deadpool & Wolverine was a gigantic success for Disney and the MCU. For many fans it was finally a good Marvel film again. The third part of the Deadpool series is not just another superhero film, but a love letter to decades of Marvel films.
As is typical of comics, there are of course countless cameo appearances in the film. One of them is part of several jokes. But you’ll only find the best joke with the character in the German version, and that has to do with the dubbing.

Deadpool and Art Attack
What kind of joke is this? After Deadpool and Wolverine end up in a sort of interdimensional plane, they encounter different versions of familiar heroes and villains. One of them is played by Chris Evans. But it’s not Captain America, it’s Johnny Storm, Human Torch from The Fantastic Four.
Of course, this disappoints Deadpool. In the German version of the scene, Deadpool explains that he should have recognized it straight away. You can see this in a TikTok video from comiccosmos. Deadpool says: I should have noticed by his voice.
Johnny Storm is voiced in German by Benedikt Weber. In most films, Chris Evans is voiced by Dennis Schmidt-Foß. Therefore, in Deadpool he has a different voice than the one you know from the MCU, which would tell Deadpool that it can’t be Captain America.
This moment doesn’t even exist in English. In the original, Deadpool says: We just thought, after Wolverine says: We don’t know him.
How else could we know Benedikt Weber? Most of you will probably know Benedikt Weber as the host of the children’s show Art Attack. Otherwise he also voices Stan Marsh in the German version of South Park or Karnimani in Pokémon.
