On Sunday, the royal family gathered in Drottningholm’s castle church to say a final farewell to Princess Birgitta. Now her coffin is taken to the burial ground in Hagaparken for burial.
Princess Birgitta went her own way. The second oldest Hagasess was known for her outspokenness – and her interest in golf and fashion. She lived abroad most of her life.
Princess Birgitta, one of the king’s four older sisters, fell asleep “peacefully and peacefully” in Mallorca, where she had lived for many years. The princess was 87 years old.
She was born as Crown Prince Gustaf Adolf and Princess Sibylla’s second daughter on January 19, 1937. Together with her older sister Margaretha and her two younger sisters Desirée and Christina, she became one of the “Hagasesses”, when the family lived at Haga Castle during the 1940s.
