There was a lot of action to see in the new trailer for Borderlands 4. Players were able to get an impression of the upcoming maps and vault hunters. But the latter in particular is not well received by fans.
What’s the problem? In the main installments of the Borderlands series, there are several Vault Hunters that players can take on. Well-known characters like Lilith are even represented across several parts, making them iconic characters in the franchise.
But at first glance, according to players in a Reddit thread, none of the Borderlands 4 exterminators seem like they have much of a unique selling point. The thread creator thinks the characters look bland. He liked them least of all the Borderlands parts.
Other players agree with him. Reddit user Pino_jay, for example, writes that he would miss an alien or robot hunter. All of the Vault Hunters in Borderlands 4 are human, which he doesn’t like. The typical archetypes such as siren and sniper would also not be recognizable.
The fans are probably bothered by the fact that none of the hunters have a unique selling point. But many players could live with them if some conditions are met.
You can see the new exterminators in the trailer for Borderlands 4:
New exterminators look bland, but players accept that
Under what circumstances would this be okay? In the comments on the Reddit thread, two arguments are given where fans could live with the “bland” designs.
On the one hand, users hope that there will be crazy skins in Borderlands 4 again. The predecessor already had the most colorful skins for weapons and characters, with which you could distinguish yourself even more clearly from the other players. An example: It was possible to decorate the weapon with kittens in space.
On the other hand, players hope that the characters’ backstory is all the more exciting. If the look is boring, you can at least be satisfied with a sophisticated background.
In addition, the story should not be neglected either. Only with the story will the exterminators grow closer to your heart, according to user GeTRoGuE. So first of all you have to wait until the full release, then you can see the story and the exterminators for yourself. The trailer only gives a first impression.
Borderlands 4 will likely continue the ending of the pre-sequel. Fans have been waiting for this part of the story for 10 years. MeinMMO tells you exactly what’s behind it in the following article: Borderlands 4 probably continues the story that was promised to us 10 years ago
