Of course, there are all these works that we have been talking to you about for weeks, even months now. By this I mean novels (prize-winning or not) that are a hit like those of Kamel Daoud (HourisGallimard), by Freida McFadden (The HousekeeperI read), from the collective 13 at the table! (Pocket), by Sandrine Collette (Madelaine before dawnLattès), by Gaël Faye (JacarandaGrasset), by Miguel Bonnefoy (The Jaguar’s DreamShores), by Olivier Norek (Winter WarriorsMichel Lafon), by Valérie Perrin (TataAlbin Michel), by Marc Lévy (The Bookstore of Banned BooksRobert Laffont/Versilio), by Philippe Collin (Le Barman du Ritz, Albin Michel). Or, in terms of essays, the books of Salomé Saqué (ResistPayot), Philippe de Villiers, Jordan Bardella, Olivier de Kersauson, etc. So many books that Christmas shopping should further boost.

But there are also all these illustrated books, comics, mangas, beautiful books, which are not recorded in our charts and which these days find themselves at the top of sales. Let’s take a look. Thus the first manga written by Inoxtag, this young videographer and streamer very active on YoutTube and Twitch who made himself known thanks to his gaming videos. Title Instinct volume I (Michel Lafon, €10.95), co-signed by Basile Monnot and Charles Compain, it sold like hotcakes: 215,000 copies in two and a half weeks! The story? Haki, 19, has the gift of seeing the intentions of others. When he learns that he has an incurable virus, he meets Luna, an intriguing young girl who gives him a glimpse of a better world…

Then comes volume I of the new saga by Riad Sattouf, I, Fadi, the brother flies (1986-1993) (Editions Les livres du futur), volume 30 of Blake and Mortimer, Signed Olrik (Blake and Mortimer) by Yves Sente and André Julliard, volume 11 of Adventures of Lucky Luke according to Morris. A cowboy under pressure (Lucky comics) by Jul and Achdé, volume 8 of Old Furnaces. Thug Seeds (Dargaud), by Wilfrid Lupano and Paul Cauuet, Battlefields: The buried history of land consolidation (Delcourt) by Inès Léraud and Pierre Van Hove… Some beautiful illustrated books are also appearing such The Splendid by the Splendid: we had so much fun! (Search Midi) and Recipes and stories (Marabout) by François-Régis Gaudry.

Few new entries in our lists, as you will have understood, with the exception of two documents dedicated to our dear Parisian cathedral: Notre Dame (Robert Laffont), of Ken Follet, appeared in 14th position, just in front Notre-Dame de Paris. O queen of pain, O queen of victory (Editions des Equateurs) by Sylvain Tesson. Two successes to compare to the box of the “official restoration book”, Rebuilding Notre-Dame de Paris (Tallandier, €49.90.) by Mathieu Lours, director of the architectural history department at the École de Chaillot. Victim of its success or an insufficient print run, the book is out of stock until December 31, we can read on the publisher’s website.
