After the victory in Lillehammer last Sunday, Therese Johaug did something she promised herself she would never do.
The superstar laments the mistake.
– It will never happen again, she tells Expressen.
She is truly back on the biggest stage. Therese Johaug36, has been in as good shape as before she ended her career, despite the fact that in recent years she stopped competing and became the mother of little Christine1. In Ruka it was a second and a fourth place, but in Lillehammer she won two straight wins in the 10 km freestyle and skiathlon.
Therese Johaug regrets her mistake
After Sunday’s triumph, she happily posed in the interview zone and answered the media’s questions – at the same time carrying her little daughter around. She then did something she said she would never do. Expose the daughter in public. She has previously been clear that Kristin should avoid photographers, cameramen and reporters.
– It was not meant to happen. So, my husband Nils (Nils Jakob Hoff) stood there in the finish area there with Kristin and I just walked over to say hi. But then he just said “You have to take her! My car is wrongly parked!” and then he had an evil official after him, Johaug tells Expressen.

She is really sorry that the situation arose, it was not at all the idea that it would be like this. The Norwegian does not want that to be repeated at all.
– So it was like just saying “okay!” and take her. But no, it won’t happen again, she says.
Therese Johaug’s decision for daughter Kristin
Therese Johaug further tells Expressen how she reasons on the issue. She wants her daughter Kristin to decide for herself how much she is seen in the press and in social media. Then it is necessary that she gets older, so that she can make the decisions herself.
– Kristin must be allowed to live and decide over her life. She can post pictures when she wants to. I will not have her in pictures as some kind of mascot for me in my competition. Mother Therese and skier Therese must be two separate things, she says.

After her fine result streak with two first places, a second place and a fourth place, Therese Johaug is first in the distance cup after only two competition weekends. This weekend, she only rides 20 km of classic Swiss Davos. The Norwegian is third in the overall World Cup behind Jessie Diggins and Jonna Sundling.
