Dreamed of having children: “The pain will never leave me” • Got help from my friend’s partner
It was August 3, 2022, when Stuart Worby, 40, crushed an abortion pill into a pregnant woman’s orange juice. He then gave her several other tablets while she was blindfolded during sex, according to the report Metro.
A few hours later, the woman began to feel a strong physical reaction in her body. The following day she was admitted to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital where she lost the fetus, 15 weeks into the pregnancy.
“Haven’t been able to have another child”
In a statement, read to the court by her prosecutor, the woman says that “being a mother was a dream for me”.
“This pain will never leave me knowing that this baby may have been my only chance to be a mother in this lifetime,” she says and continues:
“I haven’t been able to get pregnant and have another child.”
Got help from the friend’s partner
Stuart Worby allegedly obtained the abortion pills with the help of a friend’s partner. Worby allegedly booked an appointment with a gynecologist for the woman in the summer of 2022, who prescribed the abortion pills and then gave them to him.
Worby was jailed for 12 years for causing the abortion and must pay £10,000 to the woman who lost her child.
The woman who helped him pleaded guilty to the crime and received 22 months in prison. Her spokesperson says she acted out of “misguided loyalty to someone who was friends with her partner”.
