New news about Calle Halfvarsson after breaking the race

The back pain forced Calle Halfvarsson to withdraw from the last race of the World Cup in Lillehammer, the 20 km skiathlon.

Ski star Calle Halfvarsson now knows what is behind the injury that he suffered during the start of the season.

“It is a disc that is affected, and which in turn irritates the nerve root,” says the national team doctor Richard Noberius in a statement from the Swedish Skiing Association.

“The prognosis looks promising, and with rehabilitation, Calle can be ready for competition in the near future.”

The 35-year-old says that “the news is sad” but that it “still goes in the right direction”.

Halfvarsson is looking ahead to this weekend’s competitions in Davos, Switzerland, but is aiming for the Tour de Ski, which starts on December 28.

“But the priority is primarily to be good for the WC in Trondheim, which is the big goal of the winter,” he says in a statement.

Now we are helping to support Calle Halfvarsson. We miss you on the ski slopes! 🇸🇪
