The cleaning company had enough – reported the home service for neglect

In mid-November, the cleaning company Wikkans Puts och Röj was to visit one of its customers in Kristianstad. The cleaning company helps the man with shopping once a week and cleans for him every three weeks, which Kristianstadsbladet reported on.

– They had put him to bed in a dung-soaked, pee-soaked mattress, wrapped his legs in a pair of trousers and put a blanket over his chest, she says.

– Then my colleagues alerted me.

Trilled dried faeces from the man

My Stolth went to the place and got the good man’s permission to buy a new mattress, a new duvet and new sheets. She and her colleagues moved the man to the kitchen, talked to him and fed him while they cleaned the bed.

When the man was about to return to bed, My made a horrible discovery.

– Dried feces fell from his pants. Then I felt that I can’t put him to bed so I managed to get him into the shower.

Upon undressing, they discovered dried feces both on the man’s skin and in his clothes, which they estimate were three days old. The next day they have to repeat the same procedure.

– I feel both sad and distressed. There is no humanity if you treat another human being like this.

Reported incident: “It will happen again”

My Stolth and her colleagues have alerted the care administration and submitted three lex Sarah reports to the Inspectorate for Care and Care (Ivo). This was the fourth case of neglect in the home service that the cleaning company encountered this year alone.

– Among other things, we have seen a woman who makes her bed with newspapers because she peed on it. The home service did not want to listen to her, so I reported it to relatives so that she would get help.

– I am fully aware that this will happen again.

The municipality’s response: Their perception

Kristianstadsbladet has contacted Nicolaj Håkansson, operations manager for the home service in Kristianstad municipality. He admits that he knows about the case with the man and emphasizes that it was the cleaning company’s staff who realized that the home service did not sound the alarm.

– It is absolutely not a good situation. It is absolutely not the way it should be, based on that description. Then I don’t know what happens on the side and what are the underlying causes and what has been worked on. I know that the matter is handled by the home care unit concerned, says Nicolaj Håkansson the newspaper.
