Electricity prices are again at record levels.
The government therefore does not rule out support for households.
– We have an openness to support households if necessary, says energy minister Ebba Busch (KD).
The minister agrees that it is a tough situation for many households and businesses. Busch adds, however, that it is too early to say at the moment whether a possible new electricity subsidy may become relevant.
– There is no quick fix for a dismantled electrical system, she says and continues:
– The electricity prices we see today are a direct consequence of a red-green energy policy for eight years. This is what was sown and it is something that the Swedish people now get to reap, says Busch.
What is required for there to be a new electricity subsidy?
– We note that during November we had lower electricity prices on average than we had in previous years and it is difficult to know how the situation will be this winter.
– We have incredibly extreme examples yesterday and today. We are prepared to support households with further measures if necessary, but we are not there now, she says further.
Anger against Germany
The high electricity prices in Sweden right now are affected, among other things, by another EU country, whose dismantling of nuclear power the minister is now targeting:
– I’m crazy about the Germans. You have made a decision for your own area, which you have the right to make. But it has had very big consequences, says Busch and adds:
– It is also the case that they ignore the introduction of electricity price ranges in Germany and this means that we are affected much more by the irresponsible electricity policy in Germany.
