Finnish goalkeeper Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 25 saves and was chosen as the three star of the match.

Ice hockey in the NHL Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen represented by the Buffalo Sabers lost to the New York Rangers 2-3 on the night before Thursday Finnish time.

Rangers took a 1–0 lead in the first period Mika Zibanejadin with a man-of-the-match goal. The goal was the 300th of the Swedish player’s NHL career.

The second period was goalless, and in the third period the teams scored alternately. The Rangers first increased their lead to two goals, after which Buffalo reduced it to 1–2. Towards the end of the period, Buffalo played with six field players without a goalkeeper and tried to get the equalizer. Rangers instead Adam Fox hit the puck into an empty goal.

Buffalo narrowed the match to 2–3 in the last minute of the game, but the team did not have time to get any closer to the Rangers. Luukkonen made 25 saves in the match and was chosen as the third star of the match.

Other Finns who played in the match, Buffalo defender Henri Jokiharju and Rangers striker Kaapo Kakodid not score in the match.

In the second match of the round, the Ottawa Senators beat the Anaheim Ducks 5–1 at home. Drake Batherson scored a hat trick in an Ottawa jersey. Finns were not seen in the match.
