Scott recently chatted with fellow director Christopher Nolan on a stage in Los Angeles, the Hollywood Reporter reports. He responded to the question of whether Mescal would be part of the cast of his next film The Dog Stars:
Yes. Perhaps. Paul is very busy he does the Beatles thing next. So maybe I have to do without him.
The Beatles project that Scott is referring to is probably that Quadruple of films, with which star director Sam Mendes (1917) wants to portray a member of the famous band. Rumors about the cast suggested Mescal as McCartney back in June of this year, but remained unconfirmed. Scott has apparently cleared that up now. It is not entirely clear whether he intentionally omitted the detail or blurted it out.
In addition to Paul Mescal as McCartney, the following stars are said to play the remaining Beatles members:
No cast has actually been officially confirmed yet, not even Mescals. The only thing that has been confirmed so far is Mendes’ position as director and a planned theatrical release date Course of 2027. As he recently revealed to Entertainment Tonight, he knows Beatles drummer Ringo Starr apparently has more about Keoghan’s casting: “I think he’s taking drum lessons somewhere. Hopefully not too many.”
