A cold ride for the female lions at the opening

The women’s EHT tournament in Hakametsä in Tampere started with a dull loss to the USA for Finland.

Finland lost to the United States 0–4 in the opening game of the EHT women’s hockey tournament in the A group in Tampere.

– In the first set, we played bravely and well, but towards the end we ran out of gas or faith, Finland’s head coach Juuso Toivola comment.

There are a dozen World Cup silver medalists in the USA team, assembled from the university leagues.

The away team played an up-and-down game and settled the match in front of over 1,000 spectators after two scoreless innings in the final in which they scored four times.

Abbey Murphy (2+1) scored two goals, Joy Dunne and Ella Huber one.

Keeper Sanni Ahola saved 29 pucks and kept Finland up for a long time. The last goal was scored by the USA.

– In the second set we slipped a bit and in the third we let the opponent run away. All the opponent’s players play in our league. It tells you how fast and physical this series is, playing for the University of Minnesota team Nelli Laitinen reminded TV5.

In the opening match of Group B, Canada beat Sweden 2–1.
