Police: OPP search for suspects after break and enter in St. George

Brant OPP is hoping for some help identifying two people who broke into a St. George business early Sunday.

Police were called to the business at 12:45 pm to investigate the break and enter at a Highlander Street business and found video of two people who forced their way into the fenced compound and removed tools, estimated at a value of more than $7,500, from several vehicles.

Police provided photos of the suspects and the dark-colored pickup truck that was seen leaving the scene.

Police seek stolen Harley

Norfolk OPP are looking for a stolen 2006 Harley Davidson TRI after someone broke into a garage in Simcoe and took the vehicle sometime during the last three months.

Police say the theft occurred between Sept. 13 and Dec. 6 when the owner, on Lynnwood Avenue, became aware the machine was missing.

The motorcycle is black, purple and gold.

Norfolk OPP is asking anyone with relevant information about this crime to contact police at 1-888-310-1122.

Two two-vehicle crashes in Haldimand Saturday

Haldimand OPP investigated two two-vehicle collisions on Dec. 7, resulting in two people charged with driving while impaired.

The first occurred at about 12:30 pm on Haldimand County Highway 54, Caledonia.

When police spoke to one of the drivers, it “became apparent” that the person had been drinking, said a media release.

A 17-year-old from Ohsweken has been charged with impaired driving and driving with more than 80 mg of alcohol in a blood sample.

Then, at about 5:40 pm, Haldimand OPP responded to another two-vehicle crash, this one on Highway 3 in Dunnville.

Again, one of the drivers in the collision appeared to have been driving and a 28-year-old man was arrested and charged with having a blood-alcohol concentration of more than 80 mg.

He’s set to appear in Cayuga court Jan. 21.

Suspected shoplifters sought after two incidents

Norfolk OPP hope the public can help identify three people involved in two different shoplifting incidents.

Police say two men went into a business on Queen Street in Langton at about 5:45 pm on Nov. 28 and, after concealing several bottles of alcohol on themselves, left without paying.

The men are both described as 30 to 40-year-old Caucasians.

One was wearing a black puffer-style jacket and a blue toque while the other wore a black hooded sweatshirt and a black toque.

Then on Dec. 5 Norfolk officers were called to investigate a theft from a business on Simcoe Street in the Tillsonburg/Courtland area.

Police say a women concealed several items and left, without paying, in a black Kia sedan.

She’s described as a Caucasian about 25 to 35-years-old with a tattoo near her right collarbone. She was wearing a black and patterned shirt and blue jeans.

OPP: Put safety first on Friday the 13th

Norfolk OPP are alerting the public to the increased presence of motorcycles for the upcoming Friday the 13th event in Port Dover.

Along with more vehicles, police say there will be increased pedestrian traffic in the downtown area of ​​the town so motorcycle riders attending are urged to exercise caution.

All drivers are reminded to be prepared for winter weather and to follow good safety precautions, including: driving sober, following speed limits, using turn signals, keeping a safe distance from other vehicles, wearing helmets and protective gear, and avoiding distractions while driving.
