(Finance) – Il Milleproroghe decree has officially canceled the fines for “No Vax over 50”. With this decision, the prime minister’s party Giorgia Meloni (FdI) confirms consistency with the positions taken during the last legislature, when it opposed mandatory vaccination. Even the union Anief, who had supported these battles, announces appeals to obtain reimbursement of sums already paid by those who had been fined for failing to comply with the vaccination obligation during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The first substantive hearings at the Lazio Regional Administrative Court are scheduled for February 14Valentine’s Day. Anief’s lawyers presented ten appeals, representing over 5,000 members, including teachers and ATA staff. These professionals contest the obligation of the Green Pass, the suspension from service and the demotion suffered during the last months of the 2021/2022 school year, also advancing claims for compensation for damages. Although recent rulings from the Constitutional Court leave little room for surprise on the outcome, the rulings could allow lawyers to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
Marcello Pacifico, national president of Anief, also requested ahearing at the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the management of the health emergency and the measures adopted to deal with it. The objective is to represent the requests of suspended school staff, requesting recognition of the period of suspension for social security purposes, the payment of the denied maintenance allowance and compensation for the damages suffered.
