SNCF STRIKE. A social movement called by two SNCF unions is disrupting train traffic this Thursday, December 12, in particular the RER and Transilien de Paris. Some disruptions should also be noted in regional TERs.
The strike to protest against the dismantling of SNCF Freight begins this Wednesday, December 11, 2024 in the evening on the SNCF rails, maintained by two of the four organizations initially involved: the CGT-Cheminots and Sud Rail. The strike action begins at 7 p.m. this Wednesday, and has been announced as potentially “renewable”.
SNCF management announced “normal” traffic on the TGV and Ouigo lines, and only slight disruptions on the TER. In the Paris region, it is some Transiliens and the RER lines co-managed by the SNCF which will be the most disrupted by this social movement. Find below or using the summary opposite, the disturbances line by line.
The strike of December 11 in the evening and of December 12, 2024 all day, will not affect the circulation of main lines (TGV, Intercités). On the other hand, some disruptions are expected on regional lines and in the Paris suburbs. Here are the disruptions in detail:
Canceled TGV and Intercités travelers receive information via e-mail or SMS between 24 and 48 hours in advance (provided they have provided their contact details when booking). On the other hand, TER users without connections do not receive SMS messages. It is advisable to verify the information by providing train number the day before and just before departure on the SNCF site.
SNCF users can quickly check the traffic situation and find out if a particular train has been canceled or if it is leaving late. For information concerning TGVs, the telephone number made available is 0 805 90 36 35. To follow the traffic of all major or medium lines (TGV, Intercités, TER), go to this page of the SNCF. For information on the Transilien or RER in the Paris suburbs, you must call 0 805 90 36 35 or consult the dedicated platform.
