SNCF STRIKE. From this Wednesday evening and all day Thursday, December 12, trains in the regions will experience disruptions on a national scale. Follow TER as well as Transiliens and RER traffic in Paris in detail.
A strike to protest against the dismantling of SNCF Freight takes place this Wednesday, December 11, 2024 in the evening on the SNCF rails, a call initially launched by all the SNCF unions unanimously, but which was ultimately not maintained only by two of the four organizations involved: the CGT-Cheminots and Sud Rail. The strike action begins at 7 p.m. this Wednesday, and has been announced as potentially “renewable”, raising fears of potential disruptions at Christmas.
But this strike movement seems to have little follow-up. SNCF management announced “normal” traffic on the TGV and Ouigo lines, and only slight disruptions on the TER. In the Paris region, it is some Transiliens and the RER lines co-managed by the SNCF which will be the most disrupted by this social movement. Find below or using the summary opposite, the disturbances line by line.
The strike of December 11 in the evening and of December 12, 2024 all day, will not affect the circulation of main lines (TGV, Intercités). On the other hand, some disruptions are expected on regional lines and in the Paris suburbs. Here are the disruptions in detail:
Canceled TGV and Intercités travelers receive information via e-mail or SMS between 24 and 48 hours in advance (provided they have provided their contact details when booking). On the other hand, TER users without connections do not receive SMS messages. It is advisable to verify the information by providing train number the day before and just before departure on the SNCF site.
SNCF users can quickly check the traffic situation and find out if a particular train has been canceled or if it is leaving late. For information concerning TGVs, the telephone number made available is 0 805 90 36 35. To follow the traffic of all major or medium lines (TGV, Intercités, TER), go to this page of the SNCF. For information on the Transilien or RER in the Paris suburbs, you must call 0 805 90 36 35 or consult the dedicated platform.

17:36 – What disruptions on the RER this Thursday, December 12 due to the SNCF Strike?
Although the SNCF strike this Thursday, December 12 to protest against the split of Fret SNCF is poorly attended, the RER will not be spared by the strike movement. RER B and D are seeing their traffic “very seriously disrupted” according to the official Transilien website, while traffic will only be “disrupted” on RER C this Thursday. Lines A and E of the RER were spared by the strike.
4:18 p.m. – Will there be an indefinite strike starting this Wednesday, December 11?
The strike renewable every 24 hours is becoming more and more distant. Following the signing of an agreement between the management of the railway group and the Unsa and the CFDT concerning the future of Fret SNCF employees, these two union organizations announced that they were withdrawing their mobilization because they had obtained guarantees for the 4,500 employees transferred to the Hexafret and Technis subsidiaries on January 1, while the CGT-Cheminots and Sud-Rail maintained their appeal. Thursday, November 21, the strike movement presented as an “ultimatum” before December 11, if no response was provided to the demands of the inter-union, has already been little followed. According to the CGT union, only one in four railway workers was on strike that day. The inter-union has not yet ruled on the renewal of the movement. You will be the first to know on this page.
