Path of Exile 2 broke a record by reaching 578 thousand instant players on Steam in early access.
Grinding Gear Games Path of Exile 2, developed by and announced in 2019, was opened to early access last weekend and achieved great success in a short time. Although it has not been officially released yet, it broke a record by reaching 578,569 instant players on Steam. This figure has doubled the record of the first game of the series, which was 229,337.
Path of Exile 2’s Early Access Fee Did Not Deter Players
Path of Exile 2 will be free to play when it is officially released. However, currently it is necessary to pay approximately 24 pounds (200 TL) for early access. Despite this, millions of players seem ready to pay this fee to gain early access to the game. The game had already announced that it had sold 1 million copies before it was opened to early access. This figure is expected to rise much higher in the coming days.
Although it is not a direct comparison, Blizzard’s recently released Diablo IV is far behind Path of Exile 2 with 55,561 instant players. This shows how much interest Path of Exile 2 has received. Players state that the game exceeds their expectations with its rich content, advanced graphics and smooth gameplay.
One of the most important reasons why the Path of Exile series is so popular is undoubtedly that it is free-to-play. Players do not have to pay any fees for the basic gaming experience. Cosmetic ingredients can be purchased optionally. This model is received very positively by the players and allows the game to reach large audiences.
Path of Exile 2 proved how successful it was by breaking records even in its early access phase. It looks like it will continue to be one of the most played and talked about games by players in the coming days. It is obvious that it will create a completely different sound when it is officially released.
