Instagram has introduced a new infrastructure for Reels testing. In this infrastructure, posts are not shown to followers.
“Today, we’re launching trial Reels videos, a new way to try out content and find out what performs best by giving you the option to share Reels videos with people who don’t follow you.” Making the statement, Instagram detailed the following: quoted: “We often hear that content creators are hesitant to share too much with their audience or try new content that’s outside their expertise on Instagram because they don’t think it will resonate with their followers. Trial Reels videos are first shown to people who do not follow you. Now, if you want to try a new genre, storytelling format, or topic, you can take an easy poll of how your content might perform. If you’re feeling good about a test Reels video and its performance, you can choose to share it with your followers with one tap or set it to be shared automatically.

At the beginning of this year, we began testing concepts that would help address this challenge, and we take content creators’ input into account when developing test Reels videos. We are already witnessing success stories of content creators who have access to the feature. Their fresh content ideas perform well with both new audiences and existing followers.
How to share trial Reels videos on Instagram? The answer to the question is as follows: “To share a Reels video as a test, just follow the usual steps for creating a Reels video. Before sharing the Reels video, turn on the “Try” feature by tapping the button. You can find your Trial Reels video by going to your profile after sharing it. The relevant Reels video appears next to your existing drafts. Only you can see that your Reels video is an experiment. The Reels video will not be shown to others in the main grid or Reels tab of your profile unless you later choose to share the video publicly. Your followers will not see the trial Reels video in their streams or Reels tabs.”
