One of the biggest updates in recent years was released in Star Wars: The Old Republic on December 10, 2024. The game now has improved graphics and inactive character names have been removed.
What kind of update is this? With Patch 7.6, Star Wars: The Old Republic today delivered the long-awaited graphics update for various worlds and characters. Although the cartoon graphics remain of course, there are now sharper and better textures in the game.
Some objects in the game have also been replaced. The most striking of these are probably the trees, which are giving the planet a modernized look thanks to new models. The game looks much better in the comparison video and some assets such as statues that were replaced look significantly changed.

What happens to the character names in the game? With the new update for SW:TOR, all inactive character names have been made available. Anyone who buys a name change ticket or even creates a new character can take over the name of an inactive character,
So if you haven’t logged in for a while, your alter ego could be nameless. The change affects all characters who have not yet logged in this year and whose account does not currently have a current subscription.
The preferred status that players have if they have already spent money on SW:TOR does not protect against the loss of names. Only those who currently have an active subscription or have logged into their characters this year will keep the name secure.
So that players can finally get their long-blocked desired name, the developers have also started a sale that reduces the cost of renaming the character by 90%. So if you want to rename your character, you can do so at a discount until December 17, 2024.
What else does the update bring? The new patch not only delivers nicer graphics and the unlocking of many names, but also dynamic encounters. These initially start on the planet Hoth and Tatooine and are intended to give SW:TOR a new shine, just like the graphics update. The dynamic encounters are changing events on the planets that players can complete like quests. The full patch notes can be found on swtor.com.
Also new is the Boss Multiplier XR-53 as well as the PvP Season 7 entitled “Path to Mastery”. On top of that, there are new rewards for the Life Festival winter event. The balance was also tweaked and the MMORPG was expanded to include new skins, pets and mounts.
