President of France Emmanuel Macron aims to name a new prime minister within two days, party leaders who met with the president tell AFP news agency.
Macron called a meeting of the leaders of the political parties to negotiate the formation of a new government. The far-right National Alliance (RN) and the left-wing populist Unyielding France (LFI) will be excluded from the meeting.
Prime Minister of France Michel Barnier resigned after losing a vote of confidence. The presidential office has said that Barnier’s government will continue as the managing ministry until a new government is formed.
