Security down attacks and acts of vandalism in stations and

(Finance) – The balance of the last year was positive dedicated to strengthening the safety on trains and stations: assaults (-9%) and vandalism (-42%). The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Matteo Salvini, met today the managers and operators of FS Securitythe company created at the initiative of the minister himself to guarantee greater safety on trains and in railway stations. Over 1000 women and men, 90% of whom are engaged in operational activities.

The Minister expressed great satisfaction with the progress madeunderlining how FS Security represents an innovative model and a point of reference for the security of the Italian railway system.

During the meeting, the results obtained less than two years after the establishment of FS Security were illustrated and future projects were presented. Among the goals achieved in 2024, in addition to vandalism in general of 42%), there is a decrease in graffiti on convoys railways by 43% compared to the previous year. A 9% decrease in reported attacks against traveling staff was also recorded, thanks to dedicated prevention and training initiatives.

Starting in 2025FS Security will launch bodycam testing for operational staff and the use of real-time video analysis systems to enhance safety. They will also be operational from next January territorial garrisons also in Friuli Venezia Giulia and Trentino Alto Adige which will be added to the 13 territorial garrisons already active.

Finally, one of the most relevant projects is the opening in 2026 of the Security Academy in Milan Rogoredoa center dedicated to advanced training and promoting a culture of railway safety.
