An absolute triumph this spy series takes everyone by surprise

This mini-series which takes place during the end-of-year holidays has taken the lead in the top of the most viewed programs on the streaming platform in recent days.

The top of Netflix’s most viewed programs evolves with new releases from the streaming platform. While the conspiracy thriller Madness spent several days at the top of the ranking, a new series has taken its place since its release on December 5, and is now in first place in several countries, including France. Acclaimed on social networks and review aggregator sites, this spy mini-series has established itself as a must-see at the start of the year.

Helen is a devoted wife and stay-at-home mother who hides a secret: she is above all a spy who has been passing on the secrets of her husband, a politician, to the mysterious organization for which she works for ten years. But when her lover is victim of the London underworldn full end of year holidaysher employers send an old friend to protect her. Together, they embark on an investigation that will uncover a vast conspiracy as well as an imminent geopolitical crisis. This British spy thriller is called Black Doves.

Black Doves brings together very well-known faces of British cinema within its cast. The heroine of the series is played by Keira Knightley, who needs no introduction (her CV includes, among others, Pirates of the Caribbean, Pride and Prejudice, Love Actually…), Ben Whishaw (The perfumethe original voice of Paddington, Skyfall…), Sarah Lancashire (Happy Valley, Last Tango in Halifax), Andrew Koji (Warrior, Bullet Train, Peaky Blinders…), or even Andrew Buchan (Broadchurch, The Crown, Industry…). Just that!

If the six episodes of Black Doves aroused the curiosity of Netflix subscribers, they also seduced them! The series received a rating of 7.2/10 on IMDB, and rave comments on social networks. Described as “ridiculously entertaining” by one of them, who salutes the duo formed by Keira Knightley and Ben Wishaw, the program is considered “very fun and addictive” by another. All this while Netflix did not promote it, “as if it was not going to become an absolute triumph”.

The French press was also taken in: Le Point Pop hailed the “successful bet” of a “striking, breathtaking” series. For Télérama, Black Doves is “the new striking proof of British know-how”, while Le Monde still deplores the lack of coherence of the series, but salutes a series “which does not deny itself any pleasure”. The six episodes can be viewed on Netflix, provided you have a subscription.
