In Amersfoort and Utrecht there is less and less green

That decline has little to do with the amount of greenery in the cities. In Amersfoort, the total number of square meters of nature even increased slightly, but because many homes were added at the same time, residents have to share that available nature with more neighbors. “Half of all neighborhoods are currently petrified,” explains Rob van Tilburg of Nature & Environment. “In the four major cities of Amsterdam, Utrecht, Rotterdam and The Hague, this is even the case in seven out of ten neighborhoods.”
