December 10th is the annual Nobel Festival, and since 1926 Nobel laureates have received their prize at the Stockholm Concert Hall, apart from Alfred Nobel’s peace prize awarded in Oslo.
As usual, the Nobel party will be broadcast on television, and this year the broadcast starts already at 12.50 on SVT1. Then the peace prize is awarded first, and from 15.55 the other Nobel laureates get to receive the prizes on live television.

The Swedish royal family is usually present, but Sweden’s party leaders are also usually invited along with their respective parties. University students, doctoral students and research students are also invited, but these are drawn via the so-called Nobel Lottery, which was introduced by Stockholm’s student union central organization (SSCO).
Because of the big party, the police have gone out and warned that traffic access may be limited during the day. “Accessibility for Stockholm’s road users in certain areas will be severely restricted for large parts of the day,” the police write on their website.

The police: The roads you should avoid during the Nobel party
It is above all the areas near the Concert Hall that the police believe will be difficult to get around, i.e. Norrmalm and Kungsholmen, as well as the roads around Hötorget and Stockholm City Hall.
For motorists, the following streets should be avoided on December 10, according to the police:

Accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists will also be affected. The police are blocking off several places at Hötorget and Stockholm City Hall.
The police urge motorists to choose public transport instead on 10 December. On police website nothing is written about whether public transport will be affected or not.
