In the statement made by local police, it was stated that a 26-year-old man was caught in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
HE WAS DETAINED WHILE EATING.
It was noted that the person in question was detained while he was eating at the restaurant upon a tip-off to the police, and a gun silencer and fake IDs were found during his body search.
THE IDENTITY OF THE SUSPECT HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED
New York Police Chief Jessica Tish announced at the press conference that the suspect is 26-year-old Luigi Mangione, born in Maryland and registered in Hawaii.
New York Police Department (NYPD) chief detective Joseph Kenny also shared the information that Mangione was reported by the restaurant employee and that he found a gun made with a 3D printer called a “ghost gun”, a silencer and a 3-page text written for the health insurance company.
Kenny stated that the investigation continues based on the new evidence seized, and that they now believe that the suspect “planned the attack alone” and that the charges against him will be announced after he is brought to New York.
BACKGROUND OF THE ASSASSINATION
Brian Thompson, CEO of UnitedHealthcare, one of the largest health insurance companies in the USA, was killed in an armed attack while entering the hotel where he came for a conference in Manhattan, New York, on December 4.
