“1000 EURO EACH FOR THOSE WHO RETURNED” PROPOSAL

After the overthrow of the Bashar Assad regime in Syria, the process of returning refugees from outside the country to Syria began to be discussed. The Christian Union parties (CDU/CSU), which are expected to emerge as the first force in the early elections to be held on February 23 in Germany, have made an offer to pay 1000 euros each to Syrians who will return to their country.

Deputy chairman of the parliamentary group of the Union parties, Jens Spahn, stated that Syrian refugees in Germany should be supported to return to their country and said, “As a first step, let’s make an offer like this. How about if the German government says, ‘Let’s organize charter flights for everyone who wants to return to Syria and give 1000 euros each?’ ?” He made his suggestion.

Some politicians from Germany’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU) are in favor of sending Syrian refugees back to their country.

Greens and German Social Democratic Party (SPD) politicians call for caution in the face of the uncertain situation in Syria.
