In South Korea, the anti-corruption authority has imposed a travel ban on the country’s president, Yoon Suk-yeol.
President of South Korea Yoon Suk-yeol has been banned from travel by the authority investigating the corruption of the country’s high-ranking officials.
According to South Korea’s Ministry of Justice, it is a travel ban that prohibits President Yoon from traveling abroad.
President Yoon has been the subject of heavy criticism and calls for his resignation since last week’s events. Yoon announced on 3.12. to the country under a state of emergency with the purpose of asserting his power after being the subject of criminal investigations and deeply unpopular with the voters.
Yoon’s actions last week are currently being investigated by the prosecutor. The declaration of a state of emergency has already led to the resignation of the country’s interior minister.
Yoon has said that he is sorry for declaring a state of emergency and explained that his actions were caused by “desperation”.
