Sebastian Samuelsson pushed himself out of the medal fight in Sunday’s mass start and ended up tenth.
Afterwards, he was seen by SVT expert Björn Ferry, who thought he tripped around like a “prima donna”.
– Not where it is decided, counters Samuelsson.
It was a long and, for Sweden, successful premiere week in Finnish Kontiolax. The biathletes picked up several podium places and it was probably the best Elvira Öberg and the new Swedish gold nugget Ella Halvarsson. Also the men’s big star Sebastian Samuelsson accounted for a couple of fine efforts, but in Sunday’s mass start it was a little more difficult.
Sebastian Samuelsson shot himself away
The 27-year-old was in the medal fight for a while, but his shooting was too bad. With a total of five barriers, it ended up being no better than tenth place, which was a slight miscalculation.
– I struggle with what I have on the wall. It’s sour with the barriers in place. I have to chase chase. The body feels better every day. But many barriers today. I’m a little surprised by that, he says after the race.

SVT’s biathlon expert Bjorn Ferry was also disappointed after the finish. Samuelsson scored a minute after the winner Eric Perrot and it was too bad, says Ferry. He says that Sebastian is too sloppy in the standing shooting. Like many other skaters, he has trouble getting off the mat after the shoot itself.
Björn Ferry on Samuelsson: “Primadonna”
Ferry explains that Samuelsson has a tendency to take several small, unnecessary steps on the mat when he tries to get off. This makes the whole thing take a bit of time.
– When standing, he can be careless, then he can trip like a prima donna. He will stop doing that, he says.
Sebastian Samuelsson does not agree at all. He doesn’t think those seconds are decisive because he was the fastest rider in the entire race, a full eight seconds faster than the runner-up. So he does not agree with Björn Ferry at all.
– But if I add a second to this race, it is not where it is decided. I have to focus on the big stuff first, he says.

What do you think about this? Unnecessarily harsh of Ferry to call Samuelsson a prima donna? Or is he right in his criticism? Please write a comment and tell us what you think.
