The 61-year-old Baath regime in Syria collapsed in literally 12 days. While Bashar Assad took refuge in Russia, the opposition entered the capital Damascus. Yakışıklı reported that the President of the Syrian Interim Government, Abdurrahman Mustafa, made the following statements:
“There was no will of the people for 14 years and there were massacres. But everyone saw that the will of the people was not broken. Going to Damascus is premature for now. Manbij is as important to us as Damascus. There will be no stability in Damascus until the terrorist organization is ended.
“THE RETURN OF SYRIANS WILL ACCELERATE”
The return of Syrians in Turkey will accelerate. We know that the demand is high. Those whose homes are spared will leave.
The operation will be very big and the departures will be very big. The dictator is gone, the construction of Syria will begin. There is no construction process without the support of Turkey and the Turkish nation.
“WE WILL APPLY THE Türkiye MODEL IN DAMASCUS”
We will apply the Turkish model in Damascus. We will go to elections like in Turkey and continue with whoever wins. “In the first stage, a transitional government will be established that will cover everyone while preserving state institutions.”
