Pro-EU protests continue in Georgia | News in brief

Pro-EU protesters gathered in Georgia on Sunday to oppose the government’s decision to suspend negotiations aimed at joining the European Union.

In the capital, Tbilisi, thousands of people gathered outside the parliament building.

Some of the protesters beat the metal fences protecting the entrance to the parliament, waved EU flags and loudly blew horns and whistles, a reporter from the news agency AFP reported from the scene.

It is the 11th consecutive day that the protests have continued.
