Minister of the Interior of South Korea Lee Sang-min has announced on Sunday that he is resigning from his position, after the country has drifted into political chaos since the beginning of the week.
Lee tells South Korea’s JoongAng Ilbo newspaper that he feels responsible for “failing to serve the people and the president,” President By Yoon Suk-yeol declared a surprising state of emergency in the country on Tuesday.
President Yoon has accepted Lee’s resignation on Sunday, the presidential office confirms.
