William Nylander’s new words about the relationship with father Michael

Michael Nylander played many years in the NHL.
These days his sons William and Alexander play together in the Toronto Maple Leafs. Of course, it means a lot to father Michael.
– As a father, getting to see his two sons play in the same team, it was fun for him, says William to Expressen.

1992 went Michael “Nyllet” Nylander52, over to North America to play for the Hartford Whalers in the NHL. He then remained in the world’s best hockey league for many years and represented many clubs, such as the Calgary Flames, Tampa Bay Lightning, Chicago Blackhawks, Washington Capitals, Boston Bruins and New York Rangers.

William and Alexander Nylander play together

Nylander played his last season in the NHL in 2008/2009. Five years later, his eldest son was drafted William “Little-Nyllet” Nylander28, of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He signed a three-year deal with the club, but was loaned out to Modo. From the 2015/2016 season, however, he plays for Toronto and he is now one of the club’s biggest and most popular players.

This summer, little brother also wrote Alexander “Mini-Nyllet” Nylander26, on for Toronto’s organization and he was immediately sent to the farm team Marlies. He did well there for several weeks and finally got his chance in the Maple Leafs as well. Nowadays, the two brothers therefore play together. They haven’t played together since they did that one time in the JVM. But outside the ice they are seen all the more often, because they are very close to each other. They also live together in William’s apartment.
– It’s a little different, but no problem. We spend an inordinate amount of time with each other. We’re best friends, so it’s easy. We talk to each other on the phone almost every other day as well. It couldn’t have been better, says William Nylander to Expressen.

Nice relationship in the Nylander family

Both boys have a close relationship with their father. He often comes over from Sweden and watches the sons when they play matches. In the past, he has tried to time the occasions so that there were home games for both the Maple Leafs and Marlies on the same weekend or week. But now, as they play in the same team, the problem is solved.
– And then this happened, by chance! So it was crazy fun and cool that it happened when he was here, and he got to see the first game. It was a really cool moment for our family. He was very touched, says little brother Alexander.
– As a father, seeing his two sons play in the same team was fun for him. And it was special for me and my brother too, of course, says William, who is close to his entire family.

Father Michael is still the one who played the most NHL games and scored the most points in the family. But the fact is that William, who is only 28 years old, has already scored more goals than dad in the NHL.

How lovely that William and Alexander have such a nice relationship with their father and their family. They enjoy life in Toronto and have a good time together.
