HPK won the battle for the top once again

Kiekko-Espoo continues to be at the top of the Aurora League with a clear difference to HPK.

Two surprises were seen in the Aurora League of Ice Hockey, when HPK claimed away points from league leader Kiekko-Espo with goals 4–1 and Kuortane beat HIFK 4–2 in Helsinki. In other matches, Kärpät won the series jumbo RoKi 5–0 in Rovaniemi and TPS KalPa in Kuopio 4–3 after the winning goal contest.

HPK used its goal position effectively, as Kiekko-Espoo took the shots 53–25. HPK goalkeeper Anni Keisala saved 34 times when the people of Espoo Minja Drufva stretched 12 times in front of the puck. Hämeenlinna’s power players had been completed by 1+1 Barbora Jurickova and Kit Seikkula.

HIFK recovered from Kuortanene’s blitz and leveled the match at 2–2 in the second period, but Sofia Karin the second goal of the evening as well Kerttu Lehmus finishing into an empty goal guaranteed the victory for Kuortane.

Kiekko-Espoo is still at the top with 61 points, HPK is second with 47 points and HIFK is third with 46 points.
