Flash decision from the USA! The way has been cleared for TikTok to be banned

Flash decision from the USA The way has been cleared

The District of Columbia Court of Appeals ruled on TikTok’s lawsuit against the law. A three-judge Court of Appeals panel voted in favor of the law, which would require TikTok’s Chinese parent company to sell the popular social media app or be banned and blocked from access.

The court panel opposed TikTok’s claim that the ban was against the freedom of expression in Article 1 of the American Constitution and the “open internet” policy of the United States, saying, “Here, the government is trying to protect freedom of expression from a foreign enemy country and that this enemy is against the United States.” “For these reasons, the application was rejected.” made his assessment.

The decision stated that TikTok must be disposed of by January 19, 2025, when the law will come into force, otherwise it cannot be used in the USA, and it was also reminded that President Joe Biden may grant a 90-day extension against the ban, depending on the developments in the sale process.

TIKTOK DEBATE IN THE USA!

Last year, the US administration took steps to either sell TikTok to a US company or ban it, which it accused of making American user information accessible to the Chinese government. In this context, a bill passed by Congress in March was signed by President Biden.

The Biden administration gave TikTok time until January 19, 2025 to end its relationship with Chinese ByteDance, otherwise the company would be banned in the USA and blocked from access by users.

TikTok, which has 170 million users, also applied to the appeals court for the annulment of this law, arguing that it was against the freedom of expression in Article 1 of the American Constitution and the “open internet” policy of the United States.

In its application, TikTok also argued that the period granted by the US administration was very short and that it was not technically and practically possible to terminate its relationship with ByteDance during this period.

Biden has the authority to postpone the ban of TikTok for another 90 days if it enters the sales process.
