Rufus’ wild adventure through Sweden – left alone on the train

Rufus, the teddy bear who traveled around Sweden with the help of strangers and met everything from people to animals and tested different activities, is now back in the classroom in Vissefjärda in Emmaboda municipality.

– We picked it up in a fun way, where we learned both general education and a lot of geography, and we were able to connect it to almost all subjects, says Ida Dahlin, who is a teacher in year 2 at Vissefärda school.

“Big cheer in the classroom”

The inspiration for the teddy bear adventure came from the book The Diamond Hunt. When the class read the book, they wanted to try something similar for real.

They therefore left Rufus at the train station in Emmaboda with a note around his neck with instructions that said you could take pictures, tag on social media and email the teacher.

– It was very exciting! Every morning when we opened the mail, we hoped that something had arrived from Rufus. There was great cheering every time we got a new email, says Ida Dahlin.

These places and families visited Rufus

Rufus’ journey began on September 3rd, and he recently returned to the classroom. Nallen has lived with 15 families, been to eleven provinces and traveled approximately 440 miles.

– We use his journey for the children to write texts about it, says teacher Ida Dahlin.

Now in retrospect, the class updates Rufus’ journey on theirs Instagram accountwith what places he has visited and what he has done.
