Complete smash hit for Norway.
But a real fiasco for the Swedish skiers.
Now Petter Northug directs serious criticism at Calle Halfvarsson.
Friday’s 10-kilometer race during the World Cup in Lillehammer really became a Norwegian success story. The Norwegian men’s skaters finished in the first six places and completely dominated the freestyle race.

It fared significantly worse for the Swedish men’s rowers, who came far down in the results list. William Poromaa became the best Swede with a 20th place. While Calle Halfvarsson wasn’t even in the top 30 and Alvar Myhlback came 2.20 minutes behind the winner.

The Norwegian legend Peter Northug is now raising his voice after the blue-yellow fiasco in Lillehammer.
– It is as expected. It is an incredibly strong Norwegian team, we expected dominance. Many Norwegians must secure a place in the WC. If you become the fifth or sixth skater among the Norwegians, you are not allowed to go the distance at the WC, he tells Expressen.
– Sweden is too bad. It is hoped that the Swedish team will be built up as it was in my time. But as it is now, it is far below what was expected. The form must be better for the WC. Then comes the Olympic year, and then a World Cup on home soil (Falun 2027). You don’t have much time. It’s time to show that you have something going on.
Northug points out Edwin Anger as the biggest medal hope for Sweden. While he totally saws his former rival Halfvarsson.
– It could be a disaster. Last year we saw a hint that Calle was in the works. He didn’t even ski today. Calle rides so badly that it hurts to watch, says Petter Northug to the evening newspaper in his criticism.
