Denmark wants to deport everyone who is sentenced to prison

All foreign nationals sentenced to prison in Denmark should be deported. This is what the country’s Ministry of Migration and Integration writes in a press release.

“Every criminal alien who is deported from Denmark is a victory for the legal society and a victory for our country,” says responsible minister Kaare Dybvad Bek (S), in the press release.

This means that the Danish government wants to scrap the so-called stair step system, which means that a number of factors must be weighed in the decision on whether a convicted person should be deported, including how long he has been in the country.

The proposal does not apply to conditional sentences.
