Suspected of crime, according to SvD • “Resigns with immediate effect”

Gustav Hemming, leader of the Center Party in Region Stockholm and vice chairman of the regional board, is resigning.
According to Svenska Dagbladet, he is suspected of some type of crime, and the party has submitted a report to the police.
– We can confirm that he is resigning with immediate effect, says Pontus Hammarlund at the Center Party’s press service to TV4 Nyheterna.
According to a press release, Gustav Hemming is resigning after the party became aware of criminal suspicions that they have submitted to the police. Citing that it is an ongoing police investigation, the party states that they will not comment on the matter further.
– It is a police matter. We cannot comment much more at the moment, says Pontus Hammarlund to SvD.
Deputy group leader in Region Stockholm, Michaela Haga, will represent the Center Party as group leader in Hemming’s place until a new one is appointed. A new regional council will also be appointed in the future.
