Father of two Calle Halfvarsson is charging for a long and exciting season.
In order to succeed in the training, he has made a decision that affects family life.
– Then you have to adapt the training accordingly and do more serious sessions in the mornings, he says to Sportbibeln.
He debuted in the World Cup on March 23, 2009 in Falun. Since then have Calle Halfvarsson35, took 17 individual podiums and three World Cup wins. He has participated in six WCs and won three medals (two silver and one bronze) and he has been in three Olympics.
Halfvarsson has previously said that he aims to continue at least until the WC in Falun 2027. This season, instead, the WC in Trondheim is the highlight of the year.
– It will be an exciting WC, it will be big with a WC in Norway and Trondheim. There is a lot of interest there, especially when they have their home mason Johannes Hösflot Kläbosays Calle to Sportbibeln.
– It would be cool if it could be something like in Falun or Holmenkollen with like 30-40,000 in the audience.

In the Sweden premiere in Bruksvallarna, he was forced to cancel the sprint competition due to a back injury. He stood above the other competitions. Dalkarlen, on the other hand, was back for the World Cup premiere in Finnish Ruka last weekend. He came 12th in the 10km classic style and 29th in the 20km freestyle.
During the summer, Calle Halfvarsson trained well and he really feels ready for the new season.
– I am looking forward to it very much. It will be fun to start again soon. This has been a long training summer, he says.

Have you screwed up the plan anything for this season?
– Not really that much, but a little of course. A lot of it is because you have two kids, so I try to get a lot of my exercise in in the mornings. Then when I get home there will be a lot of children and take care of them. Helping at home and such. There won’t be much in the afternoons. Then you can adapt the training accordingly and run more serious sessions in the mornings.
Since he became a father of two to the son Casper-Lo2.5 and the daughter Stella6 months, life has obviously changed a lot for the skier. It’s not just about him being forced to train in the mornings. Family life comes with poorer sleep, more stress and even less free time.
– Family life is going well. Kind children… or wild children. They sleep well anyway. We have got away with it well, we have kind children at night. But it is clear that Isabella takes a big load. She does a lot more than I do. She is at home with them all the time and has never been away from children since we had our first. She takes her chances sometimes and goes away to get some alone time while I manage to take both children, he says.
Good luck with the new season, Calle. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that you stay healthy and injury-free so you can race the World Cup and WC this year.
