Foxtrot leader from Skövde detained in Sweden

A 38-year-old man who was identified as a high-ranking member of the Foxtrot network and who was arrested in Serbia last year is now in Swedish custody, reports P4 Skaraborg.
– The signal value is important, both large and small, to send signals that you are not safe even if you are sitting abroad and do not touch the narcotics, says the police intelligence leader Peter Sundblad to the radio.

The 38-year-old man is suspected of having controlled an extensive drug trade in Sweden from abroad. In addition to the suspicions of drug trafficking, he is also suspected of serious weapons offenses and trafficking in explosive substances.

– He is suspected of particularly serious drug offences, several serious drug offenses and serious weapons offences, prosecutor Johanna Kolga told TV4 Nyheterna on Monday.

Earlier this week, the man was extradited from Serbia to Sweden and was detained on Wednesday at Södertälje district court.

Suspect procrastination

The process of getting the man extradited to Sweden has been complicated and took over a year. Prosecutor Johanna Kolga has suspected that the process in Serbia has been delayed.

– It has really dragged on. They are lawyers who did not show up for negotiations, who did not want to be served and who suddenly fell ill, she says in a previous interview with TV4.

According to Johanna Kolga, the man has been abroad since the fall of 2022 and she further believes that the crimes he is suspected of have been committed during the same fall and also during the spring of 2023.

Neither the prosecutor nor anyone else working with the preliminary investigation has had any official contact with the 38-year-old during the past year. The man’s contact with the outside world has been his defense lawyers, according to the prosecutor.
