It was as a result of a third place in the European Championship qualifying group that Sweden had to get to the European Championship through a playoff. It was a double encounter against Serbia that would see Sweden looking towards this summer’s EC playoffs. It ended with a Swedish crush and 8-0 over two games.
Filippa Angeldahl talked to SVT after the match.
– It’s incredibly nice and the goal was to go to the EC. It was just a relief.
She also commented on her own role in the team.
– I feel that I have gained good self-confidence after this trust. I love playing with these girls and just enjoy and get to rule the middle.
Caroline Seger ends her career
Caroline Victory made a whopping 240 caps during her decorated career. She played her last match at the end of 2023 and then said the following at a press conference.
– I have come to a decision, that after 18 years in the national team it is over. It’s sad, but it’s true.
She filled in:
– It has obviously been a process to arrive at this decision. I think somewhere that regardless of when I took it, I would never feel that it was 110 percent right, because I lived with this for so many years, and spent more than half of my life together with many in the national team.
In conclusion, she talked about the lines of thought:
– But I have talked to loved ones, teammates, and got to feel it. It has also been a year with many minor injuries. So it feels like the right time and the right decision, considering also that it’s a new year without a championship ahead.
