Villa is clearly in a slump. In the last match, they conceded seven goals at home against bottom team Åby/Tjureda and were behind for a long time but managed to win 10-7.
At the old finals arena, a top-of-form Sirius was waiting, coming from three consecutive big victories.
– I am satisfied and it was a great effort. I’m completely exhausted too, it was a tough match. It was incredibly nice, says Sirius Nils Bergström to Bandypuls’ webcast.
Nils Bergström’s two lightning goals decided
Sirius had the initiative but Villa lined up good chances when Sirius made it 3-1 on a corner through Nils Bergström after just over an hour of play.
Just 90 seconds later, goalkeeper Anton Andersson laid the ball out to the same Bergström, who skimmed over the entire court and scored 4-1, a goal that broke Villa. Bergström also made it 5-1 from another corner and a hat-trick in less than nine minutes.
– They made it difficult for us all over the court and countered on us. It was a really tough away game and they were good, says Villa’s Martin Hammarberg.
Villa’s 39 consecutive matches without defeat in the elite league and play-offs is a record that stays at those numbers.
