Increase in pensions: what increase on January 1?

Increase in pensions what increase on January 1

RETIREMENT INCREASE. Given the political context, here is what to expect for the amount of retirement pensions in a few weeks.

This is THE hot topic of the moment. What will be the increase in retirement pensions on 1er January 2025? Initially, the government wanted to postpone the increase until 1er July. Finally, a first agreement was reached for a partial revaluation on 1er January, then a second during the summer, but not for all retirees. An exceptional additional payment is also envisaged on 1er July.

But this formula does not bring everyone in agreement: only the government parties (Renaissance-ex-LREM-, MoDem, Horizons, LR) are for it, but not the RN, nor the left. As a result, a motion of censure is about to be adopted. For retirees, this will not be without consequences.

But our elders could take advantage of this political upheaval and emerge as the big winners of the sequence since, if the budget is rejected and the government is overthrown, it is the provisions provided for in common law which apply, namely a automatic increase in basic pensions to the level of inflation, from 1er January. That is around 2%, for everyone, much more than the 0.8% initially programmed.

This increase would only apply to the basic pension, paid by the National Old Age Insurance Fund (CNAV) and not to pensions complementary. It would also concern the minimum old age and widowhood allowance.
