Deutzia: what is it?

This shrub of medium size is covered with clusters of flowers in the shape ofstars single or double, color white, pink or slightly pink from May to June, sometimes even July depending on the variety. Spring-flowering, it perfumes gardens and balconies.

Botanical description of deutzia

This small spring shrub is between 50 cm and 3 m high. It is covered with an avalanche of flowers from the end of April or the beginning of May. Origins of deutzia

This shrub is native to Asia, more particularly to planted forests in the Himalayan region.

Cultural requirements of deutzia

This shrub prefers a sunny or lightly shaded location. A classic soil will suit it by adding compost to garden soil or potting soil when planting. Once planted in fall, from September to November, in the ground or in a pot, it requires little care. To make a hedge, space them about 1 m apart. In pots, remember to check the hole in drainage in the bottom of the pot and place a drainage layer of 5 cm before filling with potting soil. Water the deutzia well the first year of planting. After flowering, make a small cleaning size. Using pruning shears, cut the deflowered branches to 1/3 of their length and prune the drink damaged or dead.
