14-year-old may have been the pub shooter in Nyköping – now the district court must assess the question of guilt

The incident was captured in part by a surveillance camera inside the pub, and the footage is one of the pieces of evidence presented by the prosecution.

The boy, who is from Västerbotten, was arrested shortly after the shooting. He is suspected of having been hired to carry out a murder at the tavern, but failed in his mission. After the shots were fired, the weapon clicked.

Cannot be judged

Since he was under 15 and thus not of legal age when the crime was committed, he cannot be sentenced even if the district court were to find him guilty. But the question of guilt can still be decided through a so-called evidentiary action. The result then forms the basis for the efforts of social services.

16-year-old is charged with serious weapons offences

Another boy, a 16-year-old, is also believed to have been involved in the incident. He is charged on suspicion of serious weapons offences. He is suspected of being the one who supplied a gun and a converted flare gun to the shooter.

According to the indictment, the police can also see how this boy received instructions to buy clothes and a phone for the shooter. In the boy’s phone, a message is found in which someone used the alias “murder command” and wrote to the shooter “drive for real”.

Who booked the train ticket and accommodation for the shooter in Nyköping is still unknown, according to the indictment.
